Breast Cancer PreventionCurrently, such health problem as breast cancer is among the most common types of cancer and the most feared women’s diseases. Breast cancer prevention has become one of the main issues and concerns of the world’s leading medical organizations and associations because nowadays, the rates of breast cancer incidents in Europe are increasing. Only in the UK, more than 45,000 incidents are annually diagnosed, and every month about one thousand lives are lost.

Mostly, breast cancer prevention is focused around a healthy balanced diet and an active lifestyle. It is a known fact that healthy nutrition and consuming the right foods can help us prevent breast cancer. In particular, numerous researches in the US and Europe have shown that regular consumption of the foods rich in fiber can substantially lower the risks of breast cancer. For an effective breast cancer prevention, you should regularly add to your diet the following foods:

  • Oily fish. Studies show that regular consumption of all types of oily fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel, trout, sardines and so on) is associated with lower occurrence of breast cancer. Oily fish is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, which can prevent breast cancer or slow down the development of cancerous cells. It was revealed by studies that the rates of breast cancer in such countries as Japan, Greece, Portugal, Finland, Sweden are lower than in other inland countries where oily fish consumption is lower.
  • Wholewheat and wholegrain foods. These are the foods rich in natural fiber which can assist in improving hormonal balance in our body and slow down cell division in breast tissue. Increased cell division is one of the main causes of breast cancer. Besides, regular consumption of natural fiber is linked to many other benefits, including improved function of the digestive system, as well as healthy guts and effective detoxification. All these factors also play a role in breast cancer prevention.
  • Fruit and vegetables. These natural sources of fiber are extremely beneficial, especially all the members of cabbage family: cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, brussel sprouts and so on. Also, fruit and veggies with high contents of carotenoids (carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, oranges, apricots, mango, tomatoes, paprika, spinach, squash, strawberries and so on) are considered to be important for effective breast cancer prevention.
  • Mushrooms. According to the findings of American specialists the Beckman Research Institute of the City of Hope in Duarte, California, daily consumption of only 100 g of mushrooms can lower the risks of breast cancer for almost two thirds. Natural enzymes which can be found in mushrooms block the action for aromataze and affect estrogen production in the body, this way creating less favorable environment for breast tumors development.
  • Soybean. This natural food is rich in isoflavines and soy proteins which, according to the researches by the National Cancer Institute, can assist in breast cancer prevention in healthy women. Soy intake is very high in Japan, where breast cancer rates are currently very low.
  • Olive oil. This is one of the most powerful anti-cancer foods which attacks tumors and blocks their development, as well as prevents cell division and DNA damages caused by cell division. Extremely rich in antioxidants, this natural food can assist in creating unfavorable environment for tumor development and survival.
