Kill CancerIn our times, cancer has stopped being a death sentence for plenty of patients with various types and forms of this disease, though it still remains one of the leading causes of deaths of people around the world. There are a great number of alternative cancer treatments being developed and tested by scientific groups or researchers throughout the globe aiming to offer cancer patients new opportunities, new solutions and new hopes for a happier and healthier life. Along with chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy and other traditional approaches to helping body kill cancer, such techniques as herbalism, aromatherapy, massage therapy, biofeedback, and others are being suggested as effective alternative cancer treatment options to support cancer patients, assist them relieve cancer related stresses, improve the function of their body organs and systems, and increase their chances to achieve success in their fight against this terrible disease.

It is reported that nowadays, a scientific team at the University of Pennsylvania is testing a new alternative cancer treatment developed by the experts from the University in collaboration with the medical scientists fromthe National Cancer Institute in Maryland andMemorial Sloan-Kettering in New York City. The main goal of the innovative approach is to teach the immune system of cancer patients permanently fight off and eventually kill cancer cells, which can be achieved by using certain genetic modifications and “reprogramming” HIV cells of cancer patients. The first clinical trials involved working with acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients in their early ages, and the first findings on the effectiveness of this alternative cancer treatment were recently reported at the annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology in Atlanta.

The technology including removing great amounts of patients’ T-cells (white blood cells used by the immune system and responsible for destroying viruses, bacteria, etc.) and introducing special genetic modifications to teach these cells kill cancer cells in the body. At that, the scientists used disabled form of HIV cells which turned out to be the most effective in destroying cancer cells affected by leukemia. The essence of this alternative cancer treatment is introducing reprogrammed T-cells in cancer patient’s body and assisting them multiplying and killing cancer cells. Alternative Cancer TreatmentAccording to the Pennsylvania University experts, the principal objective of their study was to find out one or a few alternative cancer treatments which could be used instead of bone marrow transplantation, one of the most expensive and risky traditional cancer treatment option, and achieve a high level of effectiveness for cancer patients.

It is reported that about a dozen of patients in Memorial Sloan-Kettering hospital diagnosed with leukemia type of cancerunderwent the newly developed alternative cancer treatment, and all of them demonstrated positive changes and improvements in their health condition. In the University of Pennsylvania, eight patients were involved in similar type of treatment tests. Three of them demonstrated the signs of almost full remission, with almost to symptoms of cancer. Four of the participants have shown great improvements which, however, can not be considered full recovery. One patient has undergone the treatment too recently, that is why it is too early to talk about the results of the alternative cancer treatment proposed. These results are considered to be a great success, making the treatment a great alternative to traditional and risky cancer treatments.

The new cancer treatment developers hope that the new technology will allow helping patients with other types of cancer as well, including the most common types: breast cancer and prostate cancer. The technology is pretty complicated, but numerous tests have shown success on all stages of T-cell intervention. The study leaders underline that, in contrast to other similar technologies which are being developed and tested by other scientific groups, Pennsylvania University researchers managed to engineer such genetically modified T-cells which can provide lasting effects, possibly life-long ones. Unfortunately, as the tests have shown, there are certain dangers and health risks linked to using this alternative cancer treatment to kill cancer cells, including high fever, dangerously low blood pressure, and others. However, using this technology against solid cancerous tumors and leykemia-type cancer seems to provide patients with better results compared to all known cancer treatments.
